With the 21st February being a four-man team (don't forget to get your name down), there are just four more rounds of the 09/10 Winter League remaining.

It is tight at the top with the 06/07 winner Murray Snowden currently in the league but closely followed by Ash Beaumont, Jonathan Griffiths, Paul Saxon and last year winner Martin Sykes.

It is also all still to play for to get in the top ten with ten players within ten points of a prize place.

The Winter League dinner is now booked for 'St Georges Day' the 23rd April so put the date in your diary.

With Winter League just two weeks old it is already apparent that it is going to be a highly competitive season. There are only two players with 100%, two wins from two games, as Alex Bull and Pete Doolan lead the way.

Last seasons champion Martin Sykes has had a shocking start with two losses in his opening two weeks, and is languishing near the bottom of the table.

Just come along to the club by 8.15 on any sunday morning (except the third sunday in the month which is reserved for a 4-man team) and join in the fun.

See you there.

The clubs most eagerly awaited competition will start on Sunday 18th October 2009 and run every Sunday throughout the winter (except the third Sunday which is reserved for a four man team).

All male members are welcome and the annual cost is just £25 which includes a fantastic end-of-season meal and prizes down to tenth place.

All those in the clubhouse by 8:15am prompt each Sunday will be entered into the draw for their partner and opponents and the format is four-ball better-ball matchplay off 3/4 difference to the lowest handicap in the group.

Winning teams pick up five points, those drawing get three, and losers pick up a single point. All points are tallied throughout the season with a weekly league table published.

So get yourself to the clubhouse by 8:15 on the 18th October and you will be in the running to pick up the Winter League Claret Jug and the admiration of the whole club!
